To enable new members to become involved and gain experience in acting, directing, backstage and technical roles before being placed in Major productions, the Society conducts what are known as Greenrooms. These are normally short performances/one act plays, staged for a single night in front of members and friends.
Rehearsals for Greenrooms are usually held Tuesday and Thursday nights in the downstairs rehearsal room (also called the Green Room!). Greenrooms are designed to be a low pressure way of trying out new skills. We hope that they are also entertaining and a good way to socialise and meet other members.
The performance of a greenroom production is usually held on the Saturday night 1 week after the close of the preceding major production. Greenroom auditions are usually held at 2pm on the Sunday, the day after the previous Greenroom performance.
Dates for greenrooms and auditions
The first Greenroom performance for 2012 was scheduled for Saturday May 5. Unfortunately we have not received an offer by any member to direct the greenroom for this night. So unfortunately this greenroom has had to be cancelled, along with the associated audition.
The audition for the first Greenroom (originally scheduled for Sunday March 4), has been cancelled.
The next green room is scheduled for August 25, for which an audition is planned for May 6.
Any members (or potential new members) interested in directing a one act play for a Greenroom in the future are asked to contact Michael Taylor on 4638 4277.
